Zachary Smith is a leader in the digital infrastructure and cloud computing ecosystem.  Mr. Smith started his career at New York-based Voxel, a pioneering Linux-based cloud computing business.  In 2014, he co-founded Packet to empower tech-enabled enterprises with automated bare metal compute.  Backed by SoftBank, Dell Technologies, and Battery Ventures, the business became the leader in bare metal automation and was acquired by Equinix in 2020.  Mr. Smith led the edge computing and software connectivity business for Equinix until he left the company in early 2023.

In late 2024, Mr. Smith co-founded Datum, a startup on a mission to provide Internet scale superpowers to every builder. The company is backed by leading venture firms including Amplify, Encoded and CRV.

In addition to his board role at Wasabi, Mr. Smith currently serves on the board of Cloud One Digital, a digital infrastructure platform backed by One Equity Partners and Pursuit.org, a workforce transformation impact organization upskilling workers for an age dominated by software and AI.  He is an active member of several arts organizations, including the National Sawdust and The New School’s Schneider Concerts advisory boards.

Mr. Smith lives in Manhattan with his wife and two teenage sons.  He graduated from the Juilliard School in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performance and performs in the Camerata Notturna, an amateur chamber orchestra, and is section principle of the New Conductor’s Orchestra.
